The term Credit Repair refers to identifying and correcting inaccurate information
presented on a consumer credit report across the three major credit bureaus.
This process includes creating strong disputes and challenging the bureaus to remove errors on your report.

Credit repair companies must operate under strict guidelines established by the
Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA).
This federal law ensures that credit repair companies use fair and honest practices that protect the consumer.

Credit repair companies are prohibited from:

• Accepting pre-payments for services not yet rendered.
• Charging a customer the full price upfront for multiple months of service.
• Making promises or guarantees about specific score increases or results.
• Making deceptive representations or false guarantees about performance.
• Offering refunds without clearly stating the terms that qualify for a refund.
• Creating contracts that do not include cancellation rights.

By law, a credit repair company can only accept payment after services have been provided.
It is also illegal for companies to bind a customer to a contract without giving them
the right to cancel those services.
